“Simple food isn’t easy to execute. It is like performing on a tightrope without a safety net. Everything shows.”
Simple food using the very best local ingredients is the basis for everything we do. When food is at its peak, the natural flavors shine and the result is extraordinary!
...In a town with several options to eat only one was the obvious choice for us after the first bite and that was Mezzo Italiano. We spent a total of 6 nights in Cambria and every night except one (Wednesday because they are closed on Wednesdays) we dined at Mezzo...
We picked up food here twice during our week-long stay in Cambria (it was that delicious!). Upon our arrival on a Saturday night, we were so pleased to find that they were open until midnight, long past when everyone else had closed down. The staff was so friendly and helpful - giving advice as to how much we should order for the number of people in our party, and they even heated the food up and made everything really easy for us. We especially loved the Caesar salad and greenballs. We'll definitely return next time we're in town!!
Amazing Sandwiches! Our first time at Mezzo. Eggplant Parmesan was really good and the Panini with Capicola and Fontina was amazing. Prices are very reasonable. Folks are friendly...well, it's Cambria and everyone is friendly!
Great food! Open late! My aunt and I stopped in late on a Tuesday evening. What a surprise in sleepy Cambria! We had the rolioli (ravioli/lasagna combo?) and a cheesy chicken dish. Both were unique and beyond delicious. For dessert we had the chocolate cupcake which was deliciously decadent. We, of course, had to take goodies to go. Our road snacks included a pistachio/orange cookie, to die for truffles (vegan!) and banana muffins. Everything tasted like old family recipes with an updated, modern twist. We'll be taking another road trip soon!
When you are busy traveling on a road trip or for work, oftentimes you settle for whatever you can get. Sometimes you luck out, sometimes you end up in a bad spot. In the case of Cambria and along highway 1 in the Californian central coast, this place is a gem. The staff is fantastic, the food is made in a homestyle manner, with a lot of attention paid to the quality of ingredients. While we went in the first time because it was the only game in town, the next two times on a recent trip was because the place was so good that we chose it over the other dining options in town. The Caesar salad is to die for. Yes, it doesn't have anchovies in it, but most places in the US never use them, and it is not lacking in umami or depth of flavor because the owner uses (if I were to make an educated guess) 36 month aged Parmigiano Reggiano, high quality hand torn romaine, and a dressing that is light while vibrant, showcasing the flavors of the olive oil and the lemon. The house made croutons have the right texture, and are not overly oily. Hands down, wherever you are, this is a great salad. Polenta, parmigiano and the chicken soup are all good options...
Great dining experience! The ladies are friendly and the menu has some interesting options. The Caesar salad is seasoned to perfection, with REAL, shaved parmigiano and house made croutons. The baked goods are delicious, we had a nectarine and raspberry pie with home made whipped cream. We'll be back 🙂
The Central Coast has a diverse and robust farming community and we shop directly from our farmers. We offer vegetarian meals and vegan choices that highlight the local seasonal bounty.
Starting with the very best of the seasonal bounty means selecting food at its peak of freshness. We change menus often and our daily specials are driven by the farmer’s offerings.
Select from our specialty items packaged for you to take home to heat and eat. Warning: You are going to want to get out the good china.
Night Owls finally have someplace to dine! We bake in the evenings, long after most of Cambria has gone to bed.
We have items on our menu that are gluten-free, but we do cook in a kitchen where flour is used so this is not a 100% gluten-free facility.
Mezzo Italiano is ready to cater your private events, wedding, or family dinner. Let us do the cooking, we won’t tell anyone it wasn’t you.
